Early in 2019 I found myself in a bad place. I was tired, stressed, unhealthy, and forty years old. The path I was going down was clear. I saw where it led…disease, disability and an early death. I am a wife and a mother of 2 toddlers. Things had to change. I needed a complete overhaul. I needed a challenge. I needed to shake things up. What better way than to “try” CrossFit. My husband thought I was losing my mind and, perhaps, in a way, I was.

The day of my first class at Whitebelt, I was terrified. I didn’t know anything much about CrossFit other than it was probably going to be impossible for me. What the hell was I thinking?  I was losing my mind, right? Wrong. It wasn’t impossible and proved to be so much more.

Getting up the nerve to walk through the door at Whitebelt and “try” CrossFit has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Being a part of Whitebelt has impacted every area of my life. I am in better shape than I ever have been. I’m stronger than I ever have been. I’m doing things I never dreamed I could do.

Besides all the physical benefits, the mental benefits are what surprised me the most. I am more confident in every area of my life. I am learning to look at fear and failure as teaching tools, to never give up, and to try new things. “Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.” -a common quote you will hear at Whitebelt. Stepping out of my comfort zone is teaching me I am capable of so much more than I ever imagined. Not only that, I have made lifelong friends and made connections with some of the best people. I have found a community at Whitebelt. “Always learning. Always growing.” I can’t wait to see what’s next.
